Our 2025 grants program is now closed! Stay tuned for announcements regarding our 2026 opportunities this winter.

Each year, as part of our mission to encourage and promote leadership, achievement and the professional development of women in the environmental field, SWEP presents small grants (from a pool of $6,000) to help fund organizations or programs in the Greater Philadelphia Region that creatively address a locally-defined need to enhance, restore, or protect the natural environment. SWEP also supports projects that provide environmental awareness through educational sessions, with particular emphasis on encouraging girls and/or women in the sciences, engineering, or environmental fields.

To be eligible for a grant, applicants and projects must be located within the Greater Philadelphia Area, which includes southeastern Pennsylvania, northern Delaware and southern New Jersey.

Selection Criteria for Grants:

• The organization must be based in the Greater Philadelphia Region;
• The impact the SWEP grant will have on the execution of your program. Indicate the percentage the SWEP funding would be of your total program funding (higher percentages are ranked higher in the selection process);
• How the program positively impacts girls/women.
• How the program’s primary goal is the betterment of the environment through the exposure/education of girls/women to environmental issues/programs.
• The uniqueness of program.
