Each year, SWEP Greater Philadelphia awards grants to help fund organizations or programs that creatively address a locally-defined need to create, enhance, restore, or protect the natural environment or to provide environmental awareness through educational sessions, with particular emphasis on encouraging girls and/or women in the sciences, engineering, or environmental fields. SWEP presents these grants to encourage girls and/or women to pursue fields focused in STEM.

To be eligible for a grant, applicants and projects must be located within the Greater Philadelphia Area, which includes southeastern Pennsylvania, northern Delaware and southern New Jersey.
